Itinerary
Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, receive a warm traditional welcome by our team. Then drive for about 1 hour to Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital. In the evening, explore Tashichho Dzong, seat of the government and monastic body, and admire the towering Buddha Dordenma statue overlooking the valley.
Visit the Memorial Chorten, a stupa dedicated to Bhutan’s 3rd King. Explore the Institute for Zorig Chusum, where students learn Bhutan’s 13 traditional arts. Step into the sacred Changangkha Lhakhang and delve into Bhutanese rural life at the Folk Heritage Museum.
Drive 3 hours toward Punakha via the Dochula Pass, offering panoramic Himalayan views and 108 chortens. Visit the majestic Punakha Dzong, set at the confluence of two rivers. In the afternoon, take a scenic 30-minute hike through rice paddies to the Fertility Temple, Chimi Lhakhang.
Drive back to Paro, stopping en route to visit Tamchog Lhakhang, a temple dedicated to the Iron Bridge Builder. In Paro, explore the ancient Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest and most sacred temples. Spend the evening browsing local markets and cafes.
Start early for a 4-5 hour round-trip hike to the iconic Taktsang Monastery, famously known as Tiger’s Nest, perched dramatically on a cliff. Take time to meditate inside this sacred site before descending.
Drive 2.5 hours across Chele La Pass (3,988 m), Bhutan’s highest motorable pass, with breathtaking views. Descend into Haa Valley, an untouched region of alpine forests, rustic hamlets, and hidden shrines. Return to Paro by evening.
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before your transfer to Paro International Airport for your onward journey.
