Itinerary
Arrive at Paro International Airport. Warm Bhutanese welcome by guide and driver.
Visit Paro Dzong (Rinpung Dzong) and the National Museum (Ta Dzong).
Evening stroll in Paro town.
Overnight in Paro (2,200 m).
Drive to Thimphu (1 hr).
Visit Memorial Chorten, Buddha Dordenma statue, and Tashichho Dzong (seat of the King’s office).
Explore local market and craft bazaar.
Drive back to Paro for acclimatization.
Overnight in Paro.
Hike to Taktsang Monastery (3,120 m) – iconic pilgrimage site, excellent acclimatization hike.
Descend to Paro, final trek briefing and preparation.
Overnight in Paro.
Drive to Shana (2 hrs).
Trek ~7–8 hrs through forests along the Paro Chhu river.
Camp at Thangthangkha (3,610 m).
Trek 6–7 hrs gradually ascending through alpine meadows.
Stunning views of Jichu Drake and Jomolhari peak.
Camp at Jangothang (4,080 m) – one of the most beautiful high camps in Bhutan.
Optional side hikes:
Hike to Tshophu lakes (~4,300 m).
Climb up nearby ridges for views of Jomolhari (7,314 m).
Camp at Jangothang.
Cross Bhonte La Pass (4,890 m).
Long but rewarding day, ~7–8 hrs of trekking.
Descend to camp at Soi Yaktsa (3,800 m).
Ascend to Takhung La Pass (4,520 m).
Descend through yak pastures and valleys.
Camp at Thombu Shong (4,180 m).
Cross Thombu La Pass (4,380 m).
Descend gradually back to Shana (end of trek).
Pickup and drive to Paro.
Overnight in Paro.
Drive to Dochula Pass (3,050 m) for panoramic Himalayan views.
Continue to Punakha, visit Punakha Dzong, one of Bhutan’s most beautiful fortresses.
Return to Thimphu or Paro for overnight.
Breakfast, farewell, and transfer to Paro Airport.
